Kai smelt at the largish hole that was placed at her front paws. There was no scent of other wolves here, not for many years as far as she could tell. The midnight breeze ruffled her ebony coat, and she could feel it bite at her skin. The moon was shining in all her glory and the stars shone like little beacons in the heavens, held out by those who would help to lead the Alphess' path. How Kai longed to be with another. She missed the scent of other wolves whom she knew and loved.
Pushing these feelings aside, just for now, the she-wolf moved slowly in through the hole. She was immediately struck by how the wind had dropped, and she was already feeling warmer. With her keen eyes she could see that there were many tunnels in the darkness, and Kai suddenly felt very alone. For there was not a sound to be heard inside any of them.
The fae was still quite young, and she felt a tingle down her spine as she crept slowly onward down one of the tunnels to the right. It lead on for several meters until it opened up into a sort of small cave. The walls were bare, just simple compacted mud. But Kai could feel the warmth that radiated from them. So the black femme lay herself down against one of the walls, and closed her eyes slowly. Tomorrow she would investigate the other tunnels, and the land that was now hers.
